Mission and margin: How Edward Hospital found success with its stroke campaign

Stroke is the leading cause of disability in the U.S., but about half of people who have vascular disease don’t experience symptoms. So, as a healthcare marketer, the dilemma is: How do you find these patients and get them in for treatment at your hospital?

This was the topic of CPM’s recent webinar with Jill Newham, Director of Marketing at Edward Hospital & Health Services. Newham spoke about their efforts to develop a targeted campaign that increased volume for PV screenings, educated patients on vascular disease and provided positive downstream revenue.

Hand in hand: ACO & Preventive health

At our Symposium last month, ACO was on everyone’s minds. From the keynote speakers to sessions to hallway conversations, it was evident many of our clients were considering (or already implementing) an ACO strategy at their hospitals and health systems.

Tweets from the Operating Room

We’re always keeping our eyes open for innovative things happening in healthcare. So, it caught our attention yesterday when Ohio State University Medical Center live tweeted and streamed a minimally invasive knee-replacement surgery (they call MAKOplasty).

MedCity News interviewed OSU Medical Center’s social media program director Ryan Squire, who said their goals were to both promote the availability of the procedure and offer education to OSU medical students.

Squire had a few tips to share for other hospitals hoping to live tweet or live stream a procedure, encouraging them to consider the reasons they want to go live and what they expect to achieve. MedCity reporter Brandon Glenn shares:
